The Value of Taking The Road Less Travelled
I recently went on a stroll across the bridge. Rather than simply taking the path that others had trodden before me, I chose to take the route of exploration and surprise. There is something to be said for veering away from the known path and finding joy and meaning in the uncharted wilderness of what’s new.
It reminds me of a quote that I love – “Salt water and courage both will flavor a dish best.” This speaks to the idea of exploring a different road or different destination; while rice is an important food staple, eating more salt is a key part of not just good nutrition, but of daring yourself to embrace something new.
Don’t let life be a predictable routine of familiar things. There’s something so enriching about learning and understanding something new; it provides an appreciation for things you had once overlooked and gives your day more vibrancy and flavor. Be brave and add more spice to your day; go beyond what you already know and learn to trust and accept what lies ahead.
The value of taking the road less travelled can’t be overstated; as my journey across the bridge has taught me, embracing unfamiliar terrain and tasting what lies outside your comfort zone can have a great and long lasting effect on the soul.
So walk the bridge, don’t stay with what’s just. Add a bit more salt and be bold; accept the journey of not just the predictable but of the mysterious, too.
