Tragic Incident Unfolds at Sydney School: Young Staff Member Found Dead
In a tragic turn of events, a young female staff member, identified as Lilie James, was discovered deceased at St Andrew’s Cathedral School in Sydney. The grim discovery was made in the school’s gym bathroom, with authorities suspecting foul play due to the nature of her injuries.
The victim, in her early 20s, was a water polo coach at the prestigious institution, which houses over 1,400 students. Investigations led the police to establish a second crime scene at Diamond Bay Reserve in Vaucluse, where potential evidence related to the case was found.
The focus of the inquiry has shifted to a male individual, also in his 20s, named Paul Thijssen, who is believed to have been in a short-term relationship with the victim and worked as a sports assistant at the school. Police continue their search for him.
In response to the incident, St Andrew’s Cathedral School has temporarily closed, except for ongoing year 12 exams. The school has reached out to provide counseling and support for both students and parents affected by the distressing situation.
NSW Police Superintendent Martin Fileman expressed the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the need for sensitivity and understanding as students return to the school premises. The investigation remains active under Strike Force Trineura, with authorities urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
This devastating event has left the school community reeling, prompting a concerted effort to ensure the emotional well-being of all those affected.
