“Fast-Spreading Bushfires Threaten Queensland Towns, Evacuations Underway”
Landsborough, a town located approximately 20 kilometers south of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, is currently facing a dire situation as a “large, fast-moving” fire threatens the area. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) has issued an urgent warning for residents to evacuate immediately, as the fire, burning near White Gums Street and Wintzloff Road, is expected to reach Hardwood Road within the hour. This new warning comes after an initial emergency alert was issued for the town yesterday.
The fire has led to the loss of at least 35 homes in the nearby town of Tara, with properties around Chinchilla Tara Road, Millers Road, Bakers Road, McCasker Road, and Upper Humbug Road being warned to prepare for evacuation. Additionally, a Watch and Act alert has been issued for residents in Condamine, Barramornie, Kogan, and Montrose North, as a large and dangerous fire continues to burn near Ravens Road.
While firefighters are actively working to contain the blaze, the situation remains unpredictable, and residents are advised to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on updates from the QFES. Deputy Commissioner Joanne Greenfield emphasized the importance of adhering to evacuation orders and urged those in high-risk areas not to return until receiving the all-clear signal.
As the fire emergency unfolds, Queensland continues to face challenging weather conditions. The QFES is preparing for further escalation on Tuesday and is focused on reinforcing containment lines. Residents are urged to stay informed and updated through official channels as the situation evolves.
