Inviting Riverina’s Young Artists: The Annual Christmas Card Design Contest

Federal Nationals Member for Riverina, Michael McCormack, is once again embracing the festive spirit, urging young minds to participate in the 10th Annual Christmas Card Design competition.

In the picturesque setting of Riverina’s rustic charm, children from Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2 are invited to unleash their creativity under the theme, “Christmas in My Back Yard.”

“Christmas is more than just hustle and bustle. It’s about cherishing the joys of the season, particularly through the innocent lens of a child,” emphasized Mr McCormack.

This year’s challenge beckons the students to capture the essence of a quintessential rural Christmas, with themes ranging from a laid-back barbecue in the backyard to a merry feast with all the traditional trimmings.

The winning masterpiece will grace the front of Mr McCormack’s 2023 Christmas card, while the runners-up will be featured on the back. As a token of appreciation, all participants will receive special certificates, with book prizes reserved for the top three.

Last year’s submissions, totaling over 1,300, brought to life a whimsical Christmas koala relishing a day by the waterside. These cards, adorned with the young artists’ creations, will find their way into the hands of community members and influential political figures alike.

Guidelines and entry forms have been dispatched to primary schools across the Riverina electorate, marking the onset of an eagerly awaited artistic showcase.

The submission deadline for this year’s competition is Friday, November 10, 2023. Aspiring artists can send their entries via email to michael.mccormack.mp@aph.gov.au or deliver them directly to Mr McCormack’s offices in Wagga Wagga and Parkes.

The tradition continues, fostering creativity and celebrating the unique charm of a rural Australian Christmas.
