A 49-year-old woman, Erin Patterson, has been charged with murder following the deaths of three individuals who allegedly consumed poisoned mushrooms in a regional Victorian town.
Heather Wilkinson, 66, and Don and Gail Patterson, both 70, died, while Wilkinson’s husband, Ian, 68, fell critically ill but is now recovering.
Patterson’s two children were present during the incident but did not consume the same meal.
The suspect was previously questioned by the police and released without charges but has now been remanded in custody.
Authorities conducted an intense search at Patterson’s residence, suspecting the presence of death cap mushrooms, which might have caused the fatalities.
The investigation remains ongoing, with the suspect due to appear at Morwell Magistrates Court.
