Chipotle Embraces Travis Kelce’s Past Tweets with a Playful Twist

Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, found himself in the spotlight as Swifties unearthed his old tweets. One particular tweet from 2011 caught the attention of Chipotle, where Kelce, albeit misspelling, expressed his desire for “#chipolte.”

In a witty response on November 15, Chipotle embraced the playful banter, replying with a reference to Taylor Swift’s song “Anti-Hero” – “its me, hi.” Seizing the opportunity, Chipotle took it a step further, temporarily changing its social media username to “Chipolte” and modifying the sign outside a Kansas City location near the Chiefs’ stadium.

The altered sign at 4151 Sterling Ave., Suite B, added a quirky touch to the local atmosphere just in time for the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles game on November 20. Chipotle spokesperson Annie Gradinger confirmed that this marketing move, inspired by Kelce’s post, would be up “for a limited time.”

The online buzz around the exchange has been substantial, with the post garnering over 280,000 views since its appearance on Monday. Kelce’s past posts, ranging from Olive Garden to IHOP, have surfaced in recent weeks, sparking various conversations online.

As fans and followers engage in the social media banter, the temporary transformation of Chipotle’s identity showcases the brand’s ability to turn a lighthearted moment into a creative marketing strategy. The question lingers: how long will “Chipolte” stay in the spotlight before reverting to its original name? Time will tell as the playful exchange continues to captivate online audiences.
