Embracing Solitude: A Valentine’s Reflection
Valentine’s Day prompts reflections on love, yet for some, like myself, it’s a celebration of self-love. After 13 years of being single, my heart belongs to something sweeter than romance: See’s candy, indulged without hesitation.
My single status was thrust upon me unexpectedly, marked by a manila envelope bearing divorce papers. The revelation shattered my identity as a wife, but with time, I embraced my newfound independence.
Navigating the aftermath, forgiveness became my ally. Despite the betrayal, my ex-husband inadvertently liberated me. No longer tethered by compromise, I relish the freedom to live on my terms.
In hindsight, the conflicts of marriage fade into insignificance compared to the tranquility of solitude. The absence of compromise is a gift, allowing me to shape my life without inhibition.
On this Valentine’s Day, I celebrate the most contented single woman you’ll ever know: me.
