A Look At Growing Older Together
Have you ever taken the time to appreciate how far you and a close friend have come? While the number of years apart might make you think of the gulf between you and the age gap that is caused, the bond of friendship often helps bring us closer. For me and my friend, I’m two years older, and this fact makes us feel more connected than ever before.
Throughout our time together, we’ve grown closer and even grown together. From being unable to go out in public due to COVID-19 to transitioning to college, we’ve gone through it all together. My age has given me a certain amount of wisdom and I feel privileged to be able to share it with her. I often have the opportunity to offer her a glimpse of the future, so to speak, and show her what is coming down the line. I know that the advice I offer may not always be easy for her to take, but I also know that she listens and tries her best to use it for her own benefit.
Even when I’m unable to physically be with her, I find a way to stay connected and be there for her. During the times when I can be there in person, I relish in our time together. I love when I’m able to help her with her goals and get her one step closer to achieving her dreams. Together, we are growing, we are learning, and we are aging.
It’s true that the two years between us will never go away. But it’s important to note that the gap that does exist doesn’t stop us from being close friends. We are growing and aging together, despite the years that divide us.
