Embracing Active Mobility: CERN Joins Bike to Work 2024 Campaign
CERN is gearing up for the 2024 edition of Bike to Work, a Switzerland-wide cycling initiative aimed at promoting active commuting. The campaign encourages employees to pedal their way to work throughout May and June, advocating for health, sustainability, and community spirit.
Participation is simple: assemble a team of four, choose a catchy team name, and register on the Bike to Work website. Solo riders can also sign up and be assigned to incomplete teams. There are no registration fees or distance requirements, and participants are free to combine cycling with public transport.
In a notable development, CERN will join forces with the Canton of Geneva and over 40 local entities, including municipalities and international organizations, to promote cycling as a means of transportation. This collective effort is expected to see tens of thousands of individuals commuting by bike, sending a powerful message in support of active mobility.
To ensure safety on the roads, participants are reminded to review cycling safety rules and complete the online course on road traffic before hitting the pedals. Additionally, CERN’s ongoing “Bike to CERN” initiative underscores its commitment to sustainable transportation beyond the campaign period.
As participants embrace pedal power, they not only contribute to reducing carbon emissions but also promote a healthier lifestyle. With the sun shining and safety measures in place, CERN looks forward to a successful Bike to Work 2024 campaign, advocating for a greener and more active future.
