The Value of Each Year: An Unexpected Journey
It wasn’t long ago that I celebrated my 28th birthday. It’s funny how quickly time passes, but when I look back on each year, I’m able to reflect on the unique value it brought me. In particular, the past four years of my life have been the most significant – filled with unexpected lessons, newfound relationships and life-changing experiences.
At 24, I discovered my newfound appreciation for life and its purpose. My initial foray into corporate America was the key catalyst – a “jump start” of sorts, pushing me outside of my comfort zone and giving me an invigorating taste of responsibility. For the first time in my life, I had a plan and a set of goals to accomplish, motivating me to never look back.
At 25, I re-connected with old friends, colleagues and former colleagues. By going outside of my comfort zone and extending an olive branch to those I had once thought I’d lost touch with, I was able to mend past relationships and experience true support and guidance from those closest to me.
At 26, I developed the strength to pursue my lifelong passions and leave a mark on the world. After graduating from my alma mater with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Digital Media, I was equipped with the knowledge to jump-start my own business. With the help of a dedicated team of mentors, I’ve been able to use my skills and creativity to further my own brand and establish a global presence.
At 27, I faced my fears head-on and overcame them. In the process of launching my business, I faced a lot of resistance and personal doubts that almost caused me to give up on my dreams. However, I knew deep down that I was capable of so much more, and that I wouldn’t give up until I made something of myself. It was a valuable lesson that I carry with me every day – one that reminds me that nothing worth having comes easily.
As I begin another year of my life, I’m reminded of the lessons I’ve learned and the relationships I’ve built over the last four years. Despite its hardships, the journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m grateful for the invaluable lessons and opportunities I’ve gained from it. I’m certain that the years to come will bring about even greater joy and success – all of which will have its roots in the lessons I’ve learned so far.
