“The Weight of Love: Bearing an Unbearable Burden”
It’s not uncommon for us to experience the feeling of weight lifting in many areas of our lives. Whether we are lifting up our careers, our families, or our spiritual lives, there is a certain joy in being able to succeed in lifting them up. However, in the area of love, weight lifting can become a burden bearing that never ends.
Most of us have felt this unbearable burden at one point or another. From unrequited love, to one-sided love, to long-distance love, the list goes on and on. The struggle is not to find love, but to find the strength to keep it.
One-sided love is particularly tough, since the feeling of loving without being loved in return is indescribable. Loving someone you can never truly have can become emotionally taxing. For many, the temptation to walk away can be too strong. But that burden can linger, leaving a mark on our hearts, no matter how far we may run.
The thing about love is that we never fully know what we’re getting ourselves into. There is no manual, no magic answer. That’s why it’s so important to practice self-care. Put up boundaries and stand firm. Give yourself permission to love and love yourself unconditionally.
Remember that we all carry burdens of some kind. Even if it’s in the form of loving someone that we can never truly have. Though it may be difficult, let’s choose to stay with the weight of our love and have faith that it’ll be rewarded in some form. No matter how hard it gets, never let go.
