Realising the true meaning of Love
As I’ve grown up, I’ve realised that love is far more than just an emotional roller-coaster ride, or having numerous ‘love experiences’ with many different people. As time has gone by, I have come to understand that real, lasting love is not something that can be found in a day, week or even a year. To really understand and appreciate the importance of loving someone and to develop that real and deep love, takes a life-time.
When it comes to loving someone, it isn’t simply just falling into an all-consuming passion – there is far more to it than that. It is important to give time to getting to know each other, forgiving past hurts and conflicts, and building up the foundations of a trusting relationship that can then blossom into true love. All of this takes patience, understanding and an open-mindedness.
No matter what kind of love is shared, understanding that it takes more than a few days to really come to understand and appreciate it is key. With love, comes immense respect and caring. A genuine love should bring with it a willingness to always give and take, support, grow and accept each other through thick and thin. When two people truly and genuinely love each other, no matter how much time is given, it will never be enough.
Love is one of the most powerful emotions in life, and should never be taken for granted. A truly fulfilling love can fill someone’s life with a deep joy and sense of security – and for that, we must all try to remember the meaning behind true love, and not just look for love for the sake of having ‘experiences’.
