Lost and Found – How I Found My Way Home
It had been weeks since I’d last been in a place that felt like home. I had left on an adventure with no idea what I was looking for. Now I was standing in the middle of an unknown street, not sure where to go or what to do.
I felt a sudden wave of fear pass over me. What had I done? I thought back on my journey, from one city to the next, stopping at unfamiliar places along the way. The excitement had given way to the unfamiliar loneliness of being lost in an unknown land.
But just when I thought all was lost, I noticed a familiar scent in the air. Suddenly, my home came rushing back to me. The memories flooded in and a sudden wave of calm filled me as I finally felt I was close to where I wanted to be.
My feet felt rooted to the spot and I realized that, no matter where I was, I was now heading in the right direction. I slowly started walking in the direction of the familiar scent and with every step, I felt more sure that I would eventually make my way back home.
As I walked further and further, I encountered places and faces I recognized and with each one, my steps seemed lighter and the world around me more welcoming.
Finally, after what felt like forever, I saw a sight I had never been more thankful for—my home, in all its glory, welcoming me back with open arms. I took one last deep breath, appreciating the familiar smell of home and letting the knowledge that I was now safe and secure sink in.
I had come a long way, gone through all sorts of different experiences and eventually made my way back home. And though I may never know the reason why I left in the first place, I wouldn’t trade the adventure for anything in the world. I’d finally found my way back.
