Discovering Who I Am
I never expected this to be my journey, to look within and start to find out who I really am. As a kid, I always thought life was all about chasing success and being perfect in everyone’s eyes. I spent most of my time putting all my energy into conforming to the world’s standards and suppressing my own wants and desires. I wanted to be accepted and appreciated by everyone around me, so I gave up who I really was.
Now that I am older, I realize that I have spent most of my life being a passenger instead of the captain of my own ship. I’m starting to peel back the layers and dive into self-reflection to truly understand what my true identity is. What makes me unique? What do I enjoy? What do I want out of life?
I’m discovering that being unapologetically me is much more fulfilling and liberating than living according to the world’s expectations. I am striving to explore my own interests and uncovering my authentic self. My growth has taught me that it is more important to find inner peace than outside approval.
Through my journey, I am beginning to get an understanding of what it is like to live my life on my terms and define my purpose. My vision is becoming clearer and my happiness more defined.
If I am successful, I will have found a part of me that is buried underneath all my years of fitting in and living someone else’s life. That’s why I have made it a priority to rediscover and appreciate my true self and I encourage others to do the same. Let’s take back control of our own life and start finding the happiness and freedom that comes with knowing and understanding who we really are.
