If you have a job to chop down a tree, it can seem like a daunting task. But if you take the time to properly prepare yourself and your tools, it can be much easier and faster. This is why, if I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I would spend six hours sharpening my ax.

A sharp ax will make chopping the tree much simpler than if you were using a dull ax. A dull ax requires more force and effort from you, and is less efficient in terms of the amount of work that you get done in an hour. By sharpening your ax ahead of time, you’ll save yourself lots of energy and strain as well as help to prevent injuries due to extra pressure being placed on your body. Plus, sharpening an ax takes much less time than trying to hack away at a tough log with one!

It may not seem like the most exciting way to start off your day but sharpening an ax is really worth the effort when it comes time to cut down the tree. If you have enough time before the task at hand, taking a few hours to sharpen your axe could potentially shave off more time in total when it comes time to complete your mission.
