Nepal: Asian LDC, Poverty
May 8, 2023
Nepal is not only one of the least developed countries in Asia, but it is also classified as a Least Developed Country (LDC) by the United Nations. The category of LDCs is based on criteria such as low income, weak human resources, and economic vulnerability. As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Nepal is indeed one of the poorest countries in Asia, with a significant portion of its population living below the poverty line.
However, it’s important to note that economic conditions can change over time, and there may be fluctuations in a country’s poverty status. It’s recommended to refer to the latest available data and reports from reputable sources to obtain the most up-to-date information on Nepal’s economic situation.
