Daocheng Yading Scenic Area
Daocheng Yading is a scenic area located in the southwestern part of Sichuan Province, China. It is known for its stunning natural beauty and is often referred to as the “Last Shangri-La” or the “Yosemite of China.” The area is part of the larger Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Daocheng Yading is renowned for its snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and pristine forests. The three main peaks in the area are Chenrezig (also known as Xiannairi), Jambeyang (or Yangmaiyong), and Chanadorje (or Xianuoduoji). These peaks, reaching heights of over 6,000 meters (19,685 feet), dominate the landscape and provide a breathtaking backdrop for visitors.
The area is also home to three sacred Tibetan Buddhist sites, which are regarded as holy by the local Tibetan population. These sites are Chonggu Temple, Luorong Pasture, and Milk Lake. Many pilgrims and nature enthusiasts visit Daocheng Yading to experience its spiritual ambiance and engage in trekking, hiking, and photography.
To preserve the natural beauty of the region, Daocheng Yading has implemented strict conservation measures, limiting the number of visitors and maintaining the area’s pristine condition. The best time to visit is during the spring and autumn seasons when the weather is relatively mild, and the landscapes are particularly picturesque.
Getting to Daocheng Yading can be challenging due to its remote location. The nearest major city is Chengdu, and from there, visitors can take a domestic flight to Daocheng Yading Airport. From the airport, it’s still a considerable distance to the scenic area, requiring additional transportation.
Overall, Daocheng Yading offers a unique and awe-inspiring experience for travelers seeking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of China’s southwestern region.
