Taipei 101 Elevator Speed

Taipei 101, located in Taipei, Taiwan, is a famous skyscraper known for its iconic design and engineering feats. At the time of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Taipei 101 held the record for having the fastest elevator in the world.

The elevators in Taipei 101 are high-speed and designed to transport visitors and occupants to the upper floors quickly and efficiently. Taipei 101 features two sets of elevators: the high-speed elevators and the double-decker observatory elevators.

High-Speed Elevators: These elevators are among the fastest in the world, with a maximum speed of 60.6 kilometers per hour (37.7 miles per hour). They can transport visitors from the 5th floor to the 89th floor in just 37 seconds. The elevator cabins are equipped with advanced technologies to ensure a smooth and comfortable ride despite the high speeds.

Double-Decker Observatory Elevators: These elevators are specially designed to transport visitors to the Taipei 101 Observatory, located on the 89th to 91st floors. The observatory elevators are double-decker, allowing for more passengers to be transported at once. The lower deck takes visitors to the 89th floor, where they can transfer to the upper deck to reach the observatory on the 91st floor.
