“Madame Web” Unveils Trailer: Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney Take on Marvel’s Spider-Verse
Sony Pictures has dropped the first trailer for “Madame Web,” featuring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney in this suspenseful Marvel thriller set in the studio’s expanding universe.
In this film, Johnson portrays Cassandra Webb, a Manhattan paramedic with potential clairvoyant abilities that unveil the intricacies of the spider world. The trailer introduces a collaboration with a trio of young women, including Sweeney’s character Julia Carpenter, who later adopts the Spider-Woman mantle in the comics, as they navigate through Webb’s past and confront a perilous present.
Directed by SJ Clarkson, known for helming Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders,” “Madame Web” boasts a star-studded cast, including Isabela Merced, Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Celeste O’Connor, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet.
After the success of “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” Sony continues to expand its Marvel universe with “Madame Web,” scheduled for a theatrical release on Feb. 14, 2024. This marks Sony’s first comic book adaptation with a woman in the lead role, paving the way for more diverse narratives in the superhero genre.
