My Late Afternoons at Work

As the sun casts its orange hue over the horizon, I know it’s time to pack up for the day and finish working. Despite being far from done, I look forward to the long-awaited 5:45 p. m. – the time I finish my daily job.

It’s in these late afternoons, when my task list starts to dwindle and I can take a breath, that I find solace. I enjoy being alone and take the time to relish in the brief stillness of the afternoon. I am in tune with my surroundings as the chatter of the nearby busy street fills my ears and birdsongs echo throughout the office.

It’s here, amidst the gradual change in daylight, that I allow myself to fully reflect and unwind. As I disconnect from work and observe my environment, my head gradually empties of its usual chaos and allows me to center myself.

At 5:45 p. m., I emerge from my hour of contemplation and recharge, equipped with a renewed energy and determination. Ready for whatever comes my way, I know that with my inner peace, I can handle whatever challenges I face tomorrow.
