“Me-time with a Newspaper: The Key to a Satisfying Dinner!”

As we come to the end of the day, it’s important to take a break to do something for ourselves. We often forget to do this and head straight to our dinner table for sustenance and companionship.

But for me, I have discovered that reading the newspaper over dinner is a wonderful way to refuel and nourish myself mentally. I take a few moments to pick up my favorite paper and catch up on the news of the day before I start eating. I savor this “me-time” to pause and reflect, in the midst of our hectic days, to soak in some news that really matters.

Sometimes, the content I’m reading sparks up my appetite. But regardless, it leaves me feeling content, sated and at peace with myself. What better way to end a long day than with a good, fulfilling meal paired with thoughtful news.

Having a newspaper in hand also makes the meal feel less mundane. For instance, a tasty home-cooked pasta may feel infinitely better if it’s consumed while pondering the politics and current affairs.

To anyone feeling fatigued or bored at the dinner table, I encourage you to consider me-time with a newspaper. Even if it’s for a few short moments, this simple pleasure can greatly improve the quality of your meal and life.
