Reflecting On A Year Of Social Distancing
It’s been a year since the start of the pandemic and I’ve spent the last year reflecting on my experience during the April of 2020. It was a strange time, with most of the world in lockdown and everyone’s daily lives changed in an instant.
At the beginning of April last year, I was working from home and adjusting to this “new normal.” I was really missing being around other people, but was lucky enough to stay connected with friends and family through FaceTime and Zoom calls.
The month was filled with moments of loneliness, but also a few bursts of hope as I watched nature begin to flourish with all of the humans retreating inside. I felt both lucky and guilty to witness such a rare sight and made a point to go outside everyday to just be with it all.
Looking back, I am grateful that I was able to experience a month of lockdown and appreciate how it shifted my perspective on the little things that make life worth living. Despite all the social distancing and being away from people, I felt oddly connected to the rest of the world during April of last year, and I’ll never forget it.
