Why Taylor Lewan is One of the NFL’s Best Offensive Linemen

There’s no denying that Taylor Lewan has made a name for himself in the NFL as one of the league’s premier offensive linemen. His success on the field has been widely acknowledged, as the Tennessee Titans’ left tackle was voted as a first-team All-Pro for the first time in 2020. He has also made three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances and was named an NFL Top 100 Player.

But Lewan’s talent is more than skin-deep; his dedication to his craft is exemplary and a large part of his success as a football player. His commitment to developing himself both mentally and physically can be seen in the rigorous training schedule he follows, which includes long days of lifting, conditioning and film study. Lewan also puts in extra hours during the offseason to improve his footwork and overall agility.

In addition to the effort Lewan puts into his training, he’s also an incredibly intelligent player. Lewan studies game film, recognizing not only the nuances of opposing players and schemes, but also how to properly block the angles that are created by those elements. He has developed an incredible sense of how to anticipate opposing players’ moves before they happen, allowing him to beat them to the punch and keep them from making a play.

Beyond Lewan’s physical and mental attributes, his drive to constantly strive for improvement also sets him apart from other offensive linemen. After games, Lewan is typically seen dissecting plays, evaluating his performance and breaking down what he could have done differently. This dedication has allowed Lewan to consistently evolve as a player and refine his technique in order to remain a top lineman in the NFL.

Simply put, Taylor Lewan is the total package when it comes to offensive line play. His combination of physicality, technique, intelligence and work ethic has made him one of the NFL’s best players and most important pieces in the Tennessee Titans offense. It’s not hard to understand why Lewan has earned the admiration of coaches, fans and players alike.
