Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra, India. It was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1631. Construction of the Taj Mahal began in 1632 and was completed in 1653.

The Taj Mahal is considered one of the greatest examples of Mughal architecture, which is a blend of Indian, Persian, and Islamic styles. The mausoleum is made of white marble and is adorned with intricate carvings and inlaid precious stones. The four minarets surrounding the Taj Mahal are 40 meters tall and are designed to tilt slightly away from the mausoleum to prevent damage in the event of an earthquake.

Inside the Taj Mahal, there are two tombs – one for Mumtaz Mahal and one for Shah Jahan himself, who was buried there after his death in 1666. The interior of the mausoleum is also decorated with intricate carvings and calligraphy.

The Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. It is also one of the most visited tourist attractions in India, attracting millions of visitors each year.
