Asia’s Poorest: East Timor

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, there were several Asian countries categorized as Least Developed Countries (LDCs) by the United Nations. These countries were considered to have the lowest indicators of socioeconomic development in the region. Some of the Asian LDCs at that time included Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, and Timor-Leste (East Timor).

Regarding the poorest country in Asia, it is worth noting that poverty can be measured in different ways, such as GDP per capita, Human Development Index (HDI), or other socio-economic indicators. East Timor, officially known as Timor-Leste, has often been identified as one of the poorest countries in Asia. However, it is important to consider that economic situations can change over time, so the ranking of the poorest country may vary.

It’s recommended to refer to updated sources or databases such as the World Bank, United Nations, or other reputable institutions for the most recent and accurate information on the economic status of countries.
